31 January 2023 NZ Service Announcement | Major Weather Event 31 Jan 2023 The unprecedented weather event that took place in the Auckland region over the weekend has caused widespread damage from flooding and torrential rain, impacting many homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Whilst Auckland has been most impacted, Northland, Coromandel, and areas of the Waikato and Bay of Plenty have also experienced flooding and road closures.

Many roads remain closed across Auckland, including key rail links, which will have an impact on passenger and freight movements. In Northland SH1 between Brynderwyn and Waipu is closed due to slips. In the Coromandel SH25A from Kopu and Hikuai is closed until further notice following the collapse of a large section of road affecting deliveries to the wider Coromandel area.

Rail and ferry services were also disrupted over the weekend resulting in delays to Intra and Inter-Island freight services.

Heavy rain warnings and strong wind watches have been issued for several regions in the coming days. With poor weather conditions expected to continue clean-up efforts will be hampered and there is potential for further damage.

Our network is still fully open. However, we ask all customers to make allowances especially regarding additional time in transit. Please advise receivers that freight already in the network could be delayed.

We thank you for your patience as our teams navigate these disruptions. We will provide service updates as more information becomes available.
