FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - In the midst of various wage disputes, Lufthansa is now also threatened with a strike at its subsidiary Cityline. The flight attendants' union Ufo called on its members to vote on industrial action from Thursday until March 6. Lufthansa Cityline had not presented a serious offer in the wage talks, the union criticized on Wednesday.

"The employer left us no choice but to call on our members at Lufthansa Cityline to vote on strike action now," said Ufo negotiator Rachid Madmar. Ufo is demanding, among other things, a 15 percent pay rise for the approximately 900 flight attendants at the Lufthansa subsidiary, a combined payment of an inflation adjustment bonus and a one-off payment totaling 3,000 euros and an increase in functional bonuses for a period of 18 months.

It was only last Thursday that Ufo called on around 18,000 cabin staff at parent company Lufthansa to vote on strike action by March 6. The union had declared the wage negotiations to have failed on the grounds that Lufthansa had not submitted a sufficient offer.

The airline is currently having to deal with a whole series of conflict areas: in addition to the collective bargaining dispute with Ufo, there are also disputes with pilots from its subsidiary Discover, ground staff and aviation security staff at airports./mar/als/DP/jha
