Spanish utility Iberdrola SA appointed Katya Somohano Silva as the CEO of Iberdrola Mexico, tasking her with moving the company forward as it enters a "new phase" following a major asset sale to the Mexican state. Mexico City native, Somohano takes over from Enrique Alba, who spent ten years with Iberdrola Mexico. Katya Somohano is originally from Mexico City.

She holds a degree in Law from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and a Master's degree in Law from the University of Cambridge in the UK. In 2018 she completed the Senior Management Programme at the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresa (IPADE) and attended the Innovation Programme at Harvard Business School.
