Iberdrola SA on Tuesday said it has appointed Armando Martinez Martinez as its new chief executive officer.

The Spanish energy company said it has decided to separate the positions of chief executive and executive chairman. Former CEO Jose Ignacio Sanchez Galan will remain executive chairman.

Mr. Martinez previously served as business CEO at the company.

Iberdrola also said Francisco Martinez Corcoles has resigned from his position as director of the company.
