Silan releases primary side control SMPS SD6955 with built-in high voltage MOSFET

Silan continuously unveiled new products in green power controller field in 2012----the primary side control SMPS SD6955 with built-in high voltage MOSFET. The circuit uses PFM technology providing accurate constant voltage/constant current (CV/CC) control loop with high stability and average efficiency, which make them widely used in LED lighting field such as high voltage spotlight, bulb light, PAR light, etc.

SD6955 is high end off-line SMPS controller using Silan's patented technology with built-in high voltage MOSFET, peak current compensation. The circuit achieves the constant output voltage or current by indirect control through detecting the primary winding current and the auxiliary winding feedback voltage of the transformer. In a certain output power range, the output voltage can be set by feedback resistor; and the output current can be set by peak current sensing resistor. The peak current compensation can be set according to the requirements to achieve the best regulation rate of output current to meet different LED driving solutions.

In addition, the circuit integrates temperature protection, open loop protection, current limit, overvoltage protection, and undervoltage lockout, etc. to guarantee the normal operating environment and prolong its service life.

At present, output power 3~5Wis availableand the average efficiency is more than 68% (using 1.8 m AWG28 cable); the standby power dissipation is less than 100mW; and the accuracy of output current is controlled within±5.0%;the ESD of the whole system is more than ±15KeV.

SD6955 is based on0.8?mBiCMOS technology developed by Silan and it is available in SOP-7 package with built-in high voltage MOSFET which makes the circuit feature high integration, small PCB area and convenient debugging, etc. Using SD6955 to design the system can reduce the total component count, such as opto-coupler, Y capacitor, secondary feedback control, loop compensation and at the same time decreases the power dissipation and the total development cost. It is well suited for cost effective designs with smaller design size.

The lower standby power dissipation and the higher energy conversion efficiency are the development trend of LED lighting field in the future and Silan will constantly invest in this field and unveil new products.
