EVISO: Gianfranco Sorasio spoke at the annual meeting of the World Apple and Pear Association (WAPA)

eVISO S.p.A. (EVS.MI) - an EGM-listed artificial intelligence company that creates value for consumers and recurring producers of raw materials - was among the companies participating in the annual meeting of the World Apple and Pear Association (WAPA), which took place on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

Gianfranco Sorasio, CEO of eVISO, participated as a speaker to explain the benefits of SmartMele (smartmele.eviso.it), the proprietary platform dedicated to trading in the apple market, with time deferred delivery at 3/6/12 months (and beyond).

The apple market is worth $87 billion in the world and in this sector Italy is increasingly playing a leading role, being in the top 5 apple producers in the world and among the top 3 exporters (Faostat Data 2019 https://www.fao.org/faostat/en/#search/apple).

Participating in the WAPA meeting was a source of great satisfaction for eVISO, because it shows that the Company is recognised at international level by the body that since 2001 has represented the main apple and pear producing countries at global level: from Europe to North America through South America, Africa, Middle East and Asia.

The Association, led by an annually elected President and a permanent secretariat based in Brussels, aims to facilitate the trade activities of the producing countries and increase the demand for apples and pears while ensuring a fair return for producers. To achieve these goals, WAPA organises forums, meetings and market reviews to inform members about market trends.

The SmartMele portal was launched in February 2020 and in the first year it has completed its numerous Data Visualization sections, collecting and organizing relevant information about apples from all over the world. Recent months have also seen important strategic agreements with Borsa Merci Telematica Italiana (BMTI), which recognised eVISO as a partner in August 2021, and with Fondazione di Ricerca Agrion, a Research Centre of the Piedmont Region in September 2021. In December 2021, the first transaction was registered for about 100,000 kg of apples, with a total value of € 88,000, equivalent to 5 containers.
