OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Continental Resources Inc. (CLR) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $1.21 billion.

On a per-share basis, the Oklahoma City-based company said it had net income of $3.35. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $3.47 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.17 per share.

The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $2.65 billion in the period, which met Street forecasts.
