When it comes to made-up holidays, I admit that National Burrito (April 4) Day is one of my favorites — second only to National Champagne Day on Dec 31. The fast casual industry also takes it pretty seriously as evidenced by the variety of deals and freebies offered in celebration. See below for a round-up.

Chipotle Mexican Grill
Chipotle is launching an interactive game, Burrito Vault, giving 100,000 buy-one-get-one free entree codes, redeemable Thursday. To win, customers may visit unlockburritoday.com to guess two exact order combinations, ingredient by ingredient, that will unlock the bank. Prizes are available for the first 50,000 fans who decipher the Burrito Vault code. It won't be easy, considering that there are 1.34 billion possible burrito combinations available at Chipotle, said Chris Brandt, chief brand officer.

"Burrito Vault is inspired by the popularity of word puzzles, which have swept the nation and become a daily ritual for so many of our fans and team members," he said in a company release.

All players who correctly guess the Chipotle order and unlock the Burrito Vault will be entered into Chipotle's National Burrito Day sweepstakes, where 53 fans will be randomly selected to win free burritos for a year.
