BASF SE has appointed 53-year-old board member Markus Kamieth as the new chief executive, following a decision by the supervisory board. Kamieth is succeeding outgoing chief executive Martin Brudermüller, who led BASF since 2018 and will retire in April, at the end of the annual general meeting on April 25, the company said. Kamieth has been a member of the board of executive directors since 2017 and has been responsible for the business in China and several other areas.
