Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the world's largest bookseller, today announced the appointment of Jennifer Daniels as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Barnes & Noble, Inc.

As General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Ms. Daniels will be responsible for all legal matters for Barnes & Noble, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including coordination with outside counsel. She will provide guidance to the company and its Board of Directors on all corporate governance and Securities and Exchange Commission matters, including public disclosures.

Prior to joining Barnes & Noble, Inc., Ms. Daniels held senior positions in IBM's legal department, where she served as an attorney for the past 16 years. Most recently, she was Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, and Chief Trust and Compliance Officer with worldwide responsibility for IBM's legal and regulatory compliance. She also led IBM's Corporate Litigation Department with worldwide responsibility for litigation and regulatory inquiries and served as Vice President and General Counsel for IBM Americas, where she managed a team of approximately 95 lawyers and professionals in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
