Erasmus MC (the medical centre of Rotterdam University) has awarded the
contract for a new hospital complex to a joint venture by BAM Utiliteitsbouw
and Ballast Nedam Bouw Special Projects. The turf cutting ceremony will be in
autumn. The contract value for this project amounts to 449 million euro. The
joint venture expects to complete the building in 2017. The architects are
EGM Architecten.

Ballast Nedam Bouw Special Projects and BAM Utiliteitsbouw will build the
new university hospital on the site of the current hospital complex in the
heart of Rotterdam. The new 185,000m2 buildings will provide facilities for
health care, medical education and scientific research. The joint venture has
commissioned BAM Techniek and ULC Groep to realise all mechanical and
electrical installations. The joint venture has already started preparation
works. Construction will be phased. The existing hospital will remain fully
operational while construction of the new facilities is underway.
