AVerMedia Technologies ran a few tests of compatibility with the Nintendo Switch, as well as the Nintendo NES Classic Edition and Mini Famicom (Japan edition), and is glad to announce the tests went smoothly without any issue.

To record or stream your Nintendo Switch gameplay, please make sure all your drivers and console firmware are up-to-date. Place the console in its dock. You cannot record or stream the Switch if it is in handheld mode. Proceed to connect the console to your AVerMedia capture card through the usual method:

Plug your HDMI cable into the back of the Nintendo Switch dock's HDMI port. Then plug the other end into the HDMI Input port of your AVerMedia capture card.
Plug your second HDMI cable into the HDMI Output port of your AVerMedia capture card. Then plug the other end into your TV.

We would like to particularly draw you attention on the different solutions you have to record and stream. You can choose between internal (PCIe) capture cards if you prefer assembling DIY desktop computer, and external capture cards that are portable and handy for installation.

If you want to record with ultra low latency, PCIe cards are the solution, and for the best streaming experience, we would recommend the Live Gamer HD 2 (LGHD2), a plug and play, no driver required professional capture card that records in 1080p 60fps with ultra low latency. Besides uncompressed videos streaming with AVerMedia Streaming & Recording Software RECentral 3, LGHD2 also delivers compressed videos that require less transmission bandwidth, so you can use multiple LGHD2s to capture different sources at the same time via 3rd party software. Furthermore, the capture card is with a triangle metal mesh. Aside from its premium built quality and stylish design, it also provides excellent protection, ventilation, and allows the LED lighting to shine through, it is a perfect match with your fancy gaming tower. The LGHD2 is to come on the market very soon and is perfectly designed for game streaming. Below are the different capture cards that we tested with the consoles. All are updated to the latest drivers. Please notice that the Nintendo Switch was also updated to the latest firmware.
