Dispatchers Seek To Join Flight Crewmembers as Teamsters

WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Mediation Board set Jan. 12 as the date for voting to begin for Atlas Air and Polar Air Cargo dispatchers seeking representation by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the union announced today. Voting ends Feb. 2.

The dispatchers filed an application with the NMB to join the Teamsters on Nov. 19. The dispatchers, who number about 25, are currently not represented by a labor union.

In December, nearly 900 Atlas Air and Polar Air Cargo flight crewmembers voted by an overwhelming 2-to-1 margin to join the Teamsters.

The two air carriers are the operating entities for Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings (Nasdaq: AAWW), which is based in Purchase, N.Y. Atlas is the world's largest Boeing 747 cargo carrier.

The Teamsters Airline Division, under the direction of Capt. David Bourne, represents 43,000 airline employees.

Founded in 1903, the Teamsters Union represents more than 1.4 million hardworking men and women in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
