ConsumersClaim and the Aequitas Advocacy Foundation are launching a claim against Apple. The organizations want the company to compensate customers for deliberately making the iPhone 6, iPhone 7 and iPhone SE smartphones slower.

Apple released several updates to its iOS operating system between 2017 and 2018 for iPhone models 6, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus and the first-generation SE models. The updates reduced the performance level of the phones. Apple additionally tried to cover up the underlying battery defect with these updates. iPhones became slower due to the updates and no longer worked properly, according to the foundations.

Apple did not inform users of the consequences of the updates.

Apple previously settled the case for $613 million in the United States. In France, Apple was fined 25 million euros. In Italy, a fine of 10 million was handed out. Mass claims against Apple are also pending in other European countries (Belgium, Spain and Italy).

Consumers who have used these devices can come forward if they were purchased privately.
