Energy Policy

Energy management is vital in copper mining. The sustainable development of mining operations requires the implementation of energy efficiency as one of its pillars.

At Antofagasta, we recognise that energy is a strategic resource that must be managed to ensure a safe, economic, efficient and sustainable supply for our operations, in accordance with our Climate Change Strategy.

Responding to these objectives, Antofagasta commits to:

Implement, maintain and operate an Energy Management System that establishes objectives, goals and action plans.

Promote continuous improvement in the Energy Management System and in the energy performance of our mining operations, incorporating technological innovation and the use of clean energies to drive the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Provide the necessary resources and availability of information to successfully achieve the energy goals and objectives set by the Mining division.

Comply with legal requirements and voluntary commitments regarding energy use, consumption and efficiency.

Incorporate Energy Efficiency in the project design phase, such as in the guidelines on acquiring products and services that may impact the energy performance of mining operations.

Raising awareness of the energy policy in the Mining division's different internal and external communication channels, in order to promote the participation of employees, suppliers and contractors in the development and improvement of responsible energy use and consumption.

Review this Policy periodically and update it as necessary.

This Policy applies to all Group operations.
