ST LOUIS (AP) — ST LOUIS (AP) — Ameren Corp. (AEE) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $158 million.

The St. Louis-based company said it had profit of 60 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 61 cents per share.

The utility posted revenue of $1.62 billion in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.08 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.15 billion, or $4.38 per share. Revenue was reported as $7.5 billion.

Ameren expects full-year earnings to be $4.52 to $4.72 per share.

Ameren shares have dropped 2% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has increased nearly 7%. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $70.81, a fall of 17% in the last 12 months.
