Airbus announced on Monday that the state-owned Saudia airline has placed an order for 105 A320neo Family aircraft, a deal valued at around $11.6 billion at list prices.

Saudia, which represents the Saudi low-cost carrier flyadeal, is looking for 12 A320neo and 93 A321neo aircraft, bringing its fleet to 144 A320neo aircraft.

This announcement comes at a time when Saudia, faced with growing demand, is planning to increase the number of its flights, from the hundred or so destinations it currently offers on four continents.

It also comes at a time when Saudi Arabia has set itself the target of welcoming over 150 million tourists a year by 2030.

To date, the A320 Family single-aisle jets have received nearly 18,000 orders from over 300 customers.
