Hamburg, June 25, 2014. The consultancy company Acando supports the BMW Group with connecting smartphones to the multimedia system in vehicles from BMW and MINI.
The BMW Group is the first automobile manufacturer that enables the secure integration of smartphone apps into the head units of vehicles, thereby providing drivers with services like the radio, searching, or social media services. The functions are provided
both for smartphones with iOS as well as with the Android operating system.
The BMW Group is responding to customer needs with this innovation in the infotainment area. Today, many motorists find connectivity and especially the integration of personalized data in their vehicle environment to be even more important than engine
power. This preference was confirmed by a representative survey made by the inter-trade organization Bitkom1).
Thus Acando is working together with the BMW Group on an application with which the multimedia system can directly access functions and data on smartphones. The data is displayed using the central display and can be operated with the vehicle's peripheral
devices. This way you can use for instance Facebook or Twitter directly in your car. The Acando team is supporting the BMW Group especially in developing the Development Kit (SDK) and in maintaining the framework and separate apps that already exist.
"We are happy to be supporting the BMW Group in this forward-looking project. Our highly qualified experts in the area of enterprise mobility and our many years of industry expertise in the automotive branch make us very well prepared to work on these
innovations," stated Guido Ahle, Managing Director of Acando GmbH.
