LONDON, April 19 (Reuters) - Nickel prices hit their highest since September last year on Friday due to supply worries and market talk of Chinese purchases for government stockpiles.

Three-month nickel on the London Metal Exchange jumped 4.5% to hit $19,385 a metric ton, the strongest since Sept. 25. (Reporting by Polina Devitt and Eric Onstad; Editing by Jan Harvey)
