FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Germany's EWE, one of the country's biggest utilities, on Thursday posted a 55% rise in operating profit for 2023, boosted by the group's commodity trading division that benefited from price volatility.

Operating profit came in at 1.03 billion euros ($1.10 billion), the company said, adding that this was expected to decline by up to 45% in 2024 as markets are forecast to normalise.
