Shares of energy companies fell as a sector that led the broad market while inflation and interest rates were on the rise appears to have fallen out of favor.

Oil futures slipped but were little changed on the week as traders weighed demand prospects and risks to supplies in the Middle East.

Israel's military pressed deeper into the outskirts of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, striking what it said were Hamas tunnel shafts, while cease-fire negotations hit another impasse.
