GERMANY: - SMALL LOSSES EXPECTED - The DAX is expected to fall slightly on Tuesday. It is thus moving away again from the 18,000-point mark, which it has been unable to sustainably overcome in recent trading days. Two and a half hours before the Xetra start, the broker IG valued the Dax 0.2 percent lower at 17,895 points. On Thursday, the Dax had reached a record high of 18,039 points. Since then, there has been a lack of fresh momentum. In the week of the central banks, the first interest rate decision was made in Japan. However, the stock market calmly accepted the expected turnaround from the negative interest rate policy with slight price gains.

USA: - PRICE GAINS - The US stock markets started the week with more or less clear gains. Ahead of the Fed's interest rate decision on Wednesday, technology stocks on the Nasdaq were particularly in investors' favor, while Wall Street was more subdued. Slight support was provided by better-than-expected data from the US real estate market. The Dow Jones Industrial closed up 0.20 percent at 38,790.43 points.

ASIA: - UNIFORM - The most important stock markets in Asia did not follow a uniform direction on Tuesday. Following the interest rate turnaround in Japan, Tokyo's leading index, the Nikkei-225, closed 0.7 percent higher. The Japanese central bank decided in the morning to end its years-long negative interest rate policy. With the first interest rate hike in 17 years, the Bank of Japan is the last of the world's major central banks to abandon its policy of negative interest rates. It first introduced this in 2016 in the fight against deflation. In China, however, the CSI 300 fell slightly by 0.3%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost around one percent.
