The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Tuesday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed. The loonie was trading 0.3% higher at C$1.3661 to the greenback, or 73.2 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3657 to 1.3714. Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 0.2 basis points to 3.755%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt fell to 4.5984%. U.S. June crude futures rose $1.46 to settle at $83.36 a barrel on Tuesday.
