Viva Energy Australia : Geelong Refinery revved up for Sunday’s community Open Day
If you're looking for something to do with the family on Sunday, August 13, Viva Energy is inviting the community to attend its first Geelong Refinery Open Day.
The Open Day is a chance to learn about all aspects of the refinery's operations and to be entertainment by a number of local acts, including the hugely popular children's band, The Mik Maks.
Refinery General Manager, Thys Heyns, said he's excited to be hosting the day as - even though the refinery has been a part of Geelong for more than 60 years - he knows many people remain curious about what it does.
'We've got a fabulous day planned with more than 30 interactive booths showcasing our operations and the important work of our community partners,' said Thys.
'Motorsport legend Dick Johnson and the Shell V-Power Racing Team drivers will make an appearance, as will Andrew Mackie from the Geelong Cats,' he said.
'It will be a great family day out, with lots of free entertainment for the kids, so we encourage the community to come down and see for themselves what we do and how we keep Victoria moving!'
Free entertainment for the kids includes face painting, kids quiz with prizes, a photo booth (with pint-sized refinery uniforms), colouring-in competitions and card making.
Live entertainment will also be playing throughout the day including the hugely popular children's band, The Mik Maks, Dazzling Dan the magician, as well as local acts The Kite Machine, The Alice Effect and the Northern Bay College school band.
The event runs from 10.00am - 3.30pm in the refinery's main car park (at the end of Refinery Road, Corio).
Admission and car parking (in designated areas) is free.
Registration is not essential.
