Oct. 12--El Paso police detectives are trying to identify three men who beat an off-duty employee inside a Walmart store in the Northeast last month.
The victim had his jaw broken when he was hit after three men surrounded him on Sept. 18 inside the Walmart on Dyer Street near Fred Wilson Avenue, police said.
The Walmart employee had finished his shift and was shopping in the store when he was approached by the three men, Crime Stoppers of El Paso said.
"During this time the employee advised the men that he was not working and began to be taunted by the suspects. At one point one of the suspects, flicks at the victim's face," Crime Stoppers said in a news release.
The three men then surrounded the employee before one of the assailants hit him in the face, breaking his jaw, Crime Stoppers said.
The attackers exited the store and left in a maroon-colored Dodge Ram pickup filmed by security cameras, police said. The men appeared to be in their 20s and one was wearing a white Miami Heat jersey.
The unsolved case is Crime Stoppers of El Paso's "Crime Spot" for this week.
Anyone with information on the assailants may anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 566-8477, leave a tip online at crimestoppersofelpaso.org or send a text message by entering the word "CRIME1" (include the quote marks), plus the tip, and send the text to 274637 (CRIMES).
