Ulta Salon Cosmetics & Fragrance : Norcal Ulta perfume-theft spree suspects sniffed out

A string of burglaries at Ulta Beauty stores acrossNorthern Californiacame to an end early today, the Placer County Sheriff's Office reported.

After two suspects broke into the North Auburn store, Placer County Sheriff's deputies were able to arrest them following a pursuit intoSacramentoCounty, a Sheriff's Office release said.

Just before midnight Monday night, deputies responded to a burglar alarm at the Ulta Beauty onBell Road. When deputies arrived, the burglars were gone, the front door lock broken off and expensive bottles of perfume stolen.

Deputies saturated the area and the suspect vehicle was located on Interstate 80, nearHorseshoe Bar Road. Deputies spotted the suspects' white van from a law enforcement bulletin about the Ulta burglaries, the Sheriff's Office said.

When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver fled and a multi-jurisdictional pursuit ensued. When the suspects began driving on the wrong side of the roadway, including the freeway, the pursuit was halted on the ground, with a California Highway Patrol plane taking over from the air.

The airplane crew followed the fleeing vehicle until the suspects jumped out of the car inSacramentoCounty. Suspects, George Haro, 27, and Amanda Matsuo, 24, were arrested a short time later and both were booked at the Auburn Main Jail and are being held without bail.

They were booked on charges of evading, burglary, possession of stolen property, and possession of burglary tools.

The suspects listedSan Joseas their city of residence, but it's believed they were traveling and living in the van. Auburn Ulta officials confirmed that the couple had taken perfume bottles valued at $5,740. Inside the van, detectives also located high-end perfume from Versace that had been stolen in other recent burglaries.
