Mitsui : supports successful Gastech 2017 event in Japan

Gastech 2017 is the largest international natural gas and LNG industry conference in the world, and was held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture from April 4 until April 7, 2017. Mitsui & Co. participated as one of the companies in a host consortium.

At the main session of the conference, Energy Business Unit II Chief Operating Officer Hirotatsu Fujiwara expressed Mitsui's commitment and passion for driving the LNG business on the stage. He noted Mitsui's success in procurement of LNG for Japan and Asian countries over the long term dating back to its participation in the Abu Dhabi LNG project in the 1970s, and emphasized the high competitiveness of promising current projects such as Cameron LNG and Mozambique LNG, as well as the Sakhalin II expansion project.

The event, which was held in Japan for the first time, attracted over 20,000 visitors, and Mitsui's booth at the venue received many visits from industry representatives. It was also featured by various media, and served as platform for Mitsui's LNG business initiatives to be introduced globally.
