The woodworking industry will be gathering in Nuremberg at HOLZ-HANDWERK from March 21 to 24, 2018. Above all, the focus will be on machines and software solutions that increase efficiency by means of automation and networking - in particular in small and medium-sized businesses.

At the Nuremberg trade fair, HOMAG will be showcasing several cutting process innovations that achieve precisely this. They will be on show in Hall 10, together with many other solutions for the entire value chain.

Premiere: New machine design, new product names

In the spring of 2017, the HOMAG Group combined almost all of its existing brands under the single HOMAG name. The primary aim was to make collaboration with customers even more straightforward and efficient. This focused orientation gave rise to the new slogan 'YOUR SOLUTION,' meaning that the customer and their personal solution is at the heart of everything our employees do.

Now HOMAG is taking the next step: As part of the effort to organize the group's wide product range as clearly as possible for customers around the world, HOMAG will soon present an overhauled, group-wide brand identity at the HOLZ-HANDWERK fair. This includes the new, modern machine design across all products and new, consistent and coordinated product names. With this new identity, HOMAG customers can find what they are looking for quickly and easily.

NEW: The SAWTEQ B-200 saw (previously the HPL 200) boosts power in the 2 series

The compact 2 series for the trade is now to be augmented by a model featuring an integrated lifting table, the new SAWTEQ B-200 (previously the HPL 200). What is the advantage? The SAWTEQ B-200 (previously the HPL 200), like the basic model of the SAWTEQ B-200 (previously the HPP 200), comes with 60 mm saw blade projection, with higher projection available as an option. However, thanks to its integrated lifting table, it is technically capable of substantially higher throughput. It can be fed by forklift truck, with entire books of panels that are then singly and automatically pushed onto the rear machine table for the cutting process. That saves time, improves the ergonomics and speeds up the production process.

HPP and HPL 200 become the HOMAG SAWTEQ B-200 saw

Regardless of whether it is an HPP 200 or HPL 200, after the trade fair there will only be one name for the popular HOMAG entry-level model in the category of horizontal panel dividing saws. The new name will be SAWTEQ B-200 - no matter whether it includes automatic feeding by lifting table or not. Furthermore, many of the additional options are also new. An example here is the destacking module LITE, which will be available for the SAWTEQ B-200 as of HOLZ-HANDWERK. It features an integrated assistance graphic that unerringly always indicates the correct destacking location, highlighting it in color. Also new: Instead of the 600 mm wide air cushion tables, the SAWTEQ B-200 can alternatively be equipped with 800 mm wide ones for improved ergonomics when handling large or heavy panels. To increase output even further, the saw can also be equipped with 95 mm saw blade projection - in addition to the already existing options of 60 or 80 mm saw blade projection.

CADmatic 5 - the modern saw controller

As of the HOLZ-HANDWERK fair, nearly all HOMAG panel dividing saws - from the small SAWTEQ B-130 (previously the HPP 130) to the top-of-the-range SAWTEQ B-600 (previously the HKL 600) - come with the ultra-modern CADmatic 5 control system. In the new version 5, the high-end software uses innovative powerTouch operation and appealing graphical assistance displays to ensure totally intuitive operation and quick, easy handling. What makes the assistance display so special is that it no longer shows what the machine is currently doing, but thinks from the point of view of the machine operator. They can always see the next work step on the flat screen monitor - until this step has been executed. For even greater ease of operation.

intelliDivide - optimization 'software as a service' on tapio basis

From creating cutting patterns to managing tools and retrieving individual material parameters: Intelligent and cleverly networked software solutions are playing an increasingly important role in manufacturing processes along the value chain in the woodworking trade.

That is why all HOMAG saws of the 3, 4, 5 and 6 series with CADmatic 5 are already tapio-ready today! As of the HOLZ-HANDWERK fair, this will also be the case for the 2 series and the SAWTEQ B-130 (previously the HPP 130).

The option of connecting the saw to the IoT platform (Internet of Things) 'tapio' lays the foundation for the use of innovative, cloud-based high-performance software.

HOMAG will be demonstrating an example of such software at the HOLZ-HANDWERK fair: intelliDivide. The cloud-based optimization software features significantly higher computing capacities and can therefore swiftly provide the user with several alternative optimization results. Users can then access these alternatives to meet the needs of the situation at hand.

When using intelliDivide, in addition to a purely waste-based result, the operator can also select other alternatives, such as results based on the shortest machine time or the simplest handling - to ideally suit the specific requirements. The high computing power in the cloud ensures that the result, with considerably better key figures, is quickly available.

The benefits:

  • No local hardware required. intelliDivide works independently of the operating system - Internet access is all that is needed
  • Users do not have to worry about maintenance or updates
  • Automatic calculation of various alternatives
  • Easy comparison of optimization results
  • Low-cost introduction to optimization
  • Automatic transfer of the machine configuration (if the saw is connected to tapio)
  • intelliDivide also works without CADmatic 5 and the saw being connected to tapio. In this case, the results will be shown on a computer and then transferred manually to the saw

Parallel to intelliDivide, the locally used optimization software Cut Rite will also continue to be available as usual.

At HOLZ-HANDWERK 2018, visitors will be able to see for themselves, in live demonstrations, in what ways intelliDivide can be used and what possibilities it opens up for users.

It is well worth taking a look.
