Halfords has appointed the boss of Dixons Carphones software business as it new chief executive.
Graham Stapleton has been hired to replace Jill McDonald, who is taking the reigns at Marks & Spencers clothing, home and beauty business next month.
Mr Stapleton, who joins the company in January, has previously served as chief executive of Dixons Carphones Connect World Services division. Prior to that, he was chief executive of Carphone Warehouse UK & Ireland.
Earlier in his career he held senior positions at Kingfisher and Marks & Spencer.
"Graham is an outstanding business leader with the retail, digital, services and category credentials that are an ideal fit for his role as CEO of Halfords, said Halfords chairman Dennis Millard.
Mr Stapleton said: Halfords is a business with a 125-year heritage and a market leading brand that strongly resonates with me and the UK public and I am delighted to be joining the company.
Chief financial officer Jonny Mason will serve as interim chief executive at Halfords until Mr Stapletons arrival.
Earlier this month, Halfords said summer sales had been boosted by a rise in the number of Brits choosing to vacation closer to home.
