This hydropower plant will operate with two impulse turbine Pelton wheels, supplied by 277 m of waterfall, and will be linked up to the electricity network by high voltage power line.
The project has an installed generating capacity of 46 MW, and is part of the Georgian government's forceful and deliberate policy to develop the country's considerable hydropower potential. It is to be carried out in consortium with local partner CRP, and component supplier Andritz for the turbine part of the works.

The preliminary works will include the implementation studies, mole ordering and site installation work. The access roads have already been built.

This second contract follows on from the first, which enabled Eiffage Génie Civil to carry out site reconnaissance work (including a sampling campaign) and the preliminary project design. It marks a new stage in this significant project, which is also to involve an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract representing overall revenue of nearly 66 M$.
