Press release As part of a consortium, Eiffage wins two phase 1 packages of the HS2 London-Birmingham High Speed rail line in the United Kingdom for a total amount of nearly €1.6 billion

Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Génie Civil, has just been awarded as part of an integrated joint venture with UK firms Carillion and Kier a contract for two packages of phase 1 of the future HS2 (High Speed 2) rail line, which will link London to Birmingham in 2026.

These two civil engineering packages (C2 and C3), located at the centre of the route in the Midlands, represent a total of 80 km of railway line under design and build for a total amount of almost €1.6 billion (£1.4 billion).

These two major contracts cover earthworks and bridging structures, representing a total of 23 million cubic metres of earthmoving, 14 viaducts, 86 bridges structures and more than five kilometres of green tunnels.

The consortium, which comprises Arcadis, Setec and Cowi, will take part in the design.

A few weeks after the commissioning of the Bretagne-Pays de la Loire high speed rail line between Le Mans and Rennes, Eiffage thus confirms its expertise in high- speed rail line and its status of major European player in the market for large, complex infrastructure projects. Its expertise includes technical, organisational, stakeholder management and training capabilities as well as the ability to factor in and integrate local constraints.
