At Charter, our investment in broadband has been an important catalyst for economic growth in New York state. Charter has invested millions of dollars to build out its network to more than 42,000 New York homes and businesses since January 2016, exceeding its mid-December 2017 commitment made to New York state by more than 6,000 locations. We're on track to extend the reach of our advanced broadband network to 145,000 unserved or underserved locations by May 2020.

As a result, tens of thousands of New Yorkers have a new, true broadband option, one that delivers the speeds and bandwidth necessary for whatever their families or businesses need: research and homework, entertainment, telecommuting or staying connected with family, friends and customers.

A Massive Undertaking on Thousands of Miles of Network

Charter is on track to serve 145,000 underserved homes in New York by December 2020.

Our multiyear buildout is a massive undertaking, one that will ultimately involve construction of thousands of miles of network infrastructure - all funded completely by Charter, with no taxpayer subsidies or customer contributions.

This effort involves significant coordination with the New York State Department of Public Service, local municipalities, utility pole owners and contractors, to enable us to connect the Spectrum network to hundreds of thousands of utility poles across the state, along with locating other network assets underground, including fiber-optic cable.

Faster Speeds Where Spectrum Internet is Offered

Charter is committed to helping close the digital divide and broaden access to broadband in New York and across our 41-state footprint.

As Charter significantly broadens access to broadband in New York and the other 40 states we serve, we're also continuing to provide even faster speeds to improve the customer experience. As of last March, we offer 100 Mbps speeds everywhere Spectrum Internet is offered in New York, and we met this goal more than 20 months ahead of our deadline.

Even better, the starting broadband speed for Spectrum Internet is now at least 100 Mbps across the state. And for qualifying families and seniors, Spectrum Internet Assist offers an industry-leading, low-cost broadband option featuring speeds of 30 Mbps for just $14.99 per month. As with all Spectrum Internet services, there are no data caps, modem fees or contracts.

Our New York buildout demonstrates Charter's commitment to help close the digital divide the right way: bring superior products to unserved and underserved communities at highly competitive prices, combined with outstanding service. The families and businesses in our urban, suburban and the most rural communities deserve no less.
