New Jersey American Water announced today it has signed an agreement to acquire the Roxbury Water Company, a family-owned and operated water utility that provides service to nearly 3,900 customer accounts in Morris County, N.J.

“We are looking forward to welcoming residents served by Roxbury Water to our family of customers,” said Deb Degillio, president of New Jersey American Water. “Our staff is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and providing the same great level of quality and service that we provide to our customers throughout the state.”

Roxbury Water Company began providing service in 1954 and currently serves nearly 3,900 residential and commercial connections in Roxbury Township. Owned by the families of the late John Grabovetz, the late George Grabovetz and the late Paul Dunajchuk, the company has been led by John F. Hosking as president for the past 15 years.

“I am pleased to be transitioning our family business to New Jersey American Water,” said Hosking. “My family is very proud of the quality and service we have provided to our customers for more than 60 years and it gives me peace of mind to know we are leaving our life’s work in their expert and caring hands.”

In addition to growing the company’s customer base, the acquisition of this system will help strengthen New Jersey American Water’s ability to provide water in the water scarce Highlands Region. Financial and other terms of the sale were not disclosed. New Jersey American Water will complete the acquisition upon approval from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.
