PLANO, Texas (AP) _ Alliance Data Systems Corp. (ADS) on Thursday reported first-quarter profit of $146.4 million.
The Plano, Texas-based company said it had profit of $2.58 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $3.91 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.87 per share.
The manager of loyalty and rewards programs for retailers and others posted revenue of $1.88 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.79 billion.
Alliance Data expects full-year earnings to be $18.50 per share, with revenue expected to be $7.7 billion.
Alliance Data shares have climbed slightly more than 5 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen slightly more than 4 percent. The stock has risen 14 percent in the last 12 months.
